June Is Wedding Season

Posted on Jun 2, 2019

Summer is here ladies and gentlemen! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the snow is melting! This means the only time you’ll be seeing the colour white is on a beautiful bride because that’s right, it’s wedding season!

This time of the year is always a busy one at the registry as we see more and more couples coming in to get their marriage documents. So in order to help everyone out, here are a few tips for getting those documents.

Tip 1: Spend More Time With Your Fiance Not Us

In order to make your trip to the registry as efficient as possible, go to our website and fill out the forms beforehand. For a marriage licence just fill out the info for each individual on each side and bring it in with your photo ID (and divorce certificates if previously married).

For a marriage certificate, fill out the eligible applicant section at the top, and then fill out the marriage details section as well.

This will save you a lot of time when you come in and you can use that time to create more memories with your spouse to be!

Tip 2: Make it Official

Once your ceremony is finished, the marriage licence is mailed to Vital Statistics, who will then register your marriage. Unfortunately this process can take up to two to three weeks. Your marriage must be registered before you can order your marriage certificate (ordering the certificate takes another two to three weeks).

If you’re too excited and want to speed up the process of getting your marriage certificate then we have a solution for you. If you come into the registry with your documents we can register the marriage right away for a small fee. This will cut the processing time in half and you can show off your official marriage certificate to all your family and friends!

We know that, even though weddings are a time to celebrate and rejoice, they can be stressful and a lot of work. We hope these tips help you out even just a little bit! Congratulations to all the newlyweds out there!
